Ladies Football Club

Junior Football:

Galtee Rovers won a toughly contested game against Cahir B in the Junior d League final in Cahir on Friday evening. With great performances throughout the team it was tit for tat in the first half. Claire Carroll was playing in the unfamiliar position of corner forward and again didn’t disappoint with her display. All the forwards were finding space and looking for the ball at every chance. It was all square at half time with Galtees 2.1 to Cahir’s 1.4. Right from the throw in for the second half Galtees two ladies in the middle Aoife Magner and Edith Carroll took control feeding the ball to the ever eager forwards. At the back for Galtees the full back line was solid as ever with Aoife Nugent Louise Murphy and Denise Ryan keeping the Cahir forwards at bay. But it was Galtees half back line that won the day Katie Quirke Denise Ryan and Darielle Ronan breaking down Cahirs passing and starting attacks of their own. Score of the game had to be Andrea o Connells goal in the second half starting at the back hand passed all the way up the field with all the forwards getting their hands on the ball and finished with Andrea punching the ball to the net. It was a very close finish but Galtees held out for a 3.7 to 3.5 win. Darielle Ronan was easily player of the game never putting a foot wrong and showing how football should be played. All that was left was for captain fantastic Louise Carroll to accept the trophy.
