TIDY TOWNS

Part three of the Tidy Towns Adjudication Report

Tidiness - In general Ardfinnan appears to be a tidy community. However the task of maintaining tidiness is difficult for all communities. Some dumping of grass clippings were noted on the Clonmel Road. If the grass were cut more often it would not be necessary to collect it and thus avoid the disposal problem. Some weeds were present at the service station on the Clonmel Road which appears to be closed and at the kerb in Barrack Street. Weeds were also noted on gutters, chimneys, base of walls and at the timber fence (which needs painting). MPS site was unsightly and weedy. The River Suir sign needs cleaning and there was litter beside it. To the side of Blackwells the area was untidy. Pallets at Brett Bros could be stacked more neatly and tree planting at the front boundary would help to screen the yard activities. The signs at the Bring Banks needed cleaning and there was litter around them.

ARDFINNAN GAA

Juniors - Our Juniors were second best in the South Final. Newcastle ran out winners 1-17 to 0-05. The Club would like to congratulate Newcastle on their victory. We will have to pick ourselves up now fairly quickly as we are still in the County Championship and we must concentrate on our next game.

Juvenile Development Programme - Our Juvenile Development Programme continues next Friday night from 7.20pm ‘til 8.30pm. All players from U10 to U16 are welcome to attend.

Club Gear For Christmas - Anyone interested in getting club gear for Christmas can get order forms from Stephen O’Brien at juvenile training on Friday. These forms must be completed and handed back by October 26. No orders can be placed after this time.

U10 Blitz - Last Saturday 11 clubs represented by their u10 teams took part in the Johnny Cummins Shield Blitz. Both Ardfinnan teams played very well and great credit must be given to all involved in the juvenile setup in Ardfinnan. In the A competition Ardfinnan took on Clonmel Commercials in the final and Ardfinnan came out on top. There was great excitement as Eoin Kenna accepted the Shield from Club Chairman Leslie Boyle.
