PRESENTATION SECONDARY SCHOOL

Introducing the new head boy and girl - On Friday 5 and Monday, October 8, interviews were held for the position of Head Boy and Head Girl. Nine boys and six girls applied for the position and after much deliberation James Buckley was appointed Head Boy with Marie Lyons appointed as Head Girl. James Buckley, a past pupil of St. Patrick’s National School, said he applied for the position because he wanted to set an example for the junior students. Maria Lyons, a past pupil of Scoil Mhuire, Kilvemnon, Mullinahone expressed her delight in accepting this role as Head Girl. She said that she put herself forward for the role as she wanted to give something back to the school that has shaped her as a person.

The Return of the Champions! - Three pupils who were members of Tipperary’s All Ireland Minor and Intermediate Hurling squads, were warmly welcomed in their “alma mater” last Thursday. Ballingarry’s Ger Fennelly brought the All Ireland and Munster cups to his classmates. Ger is only the sixth Ballingarry club hurler to win a Minor Hurling All Ireland. He was joined in the school by two of our most talented past pupils, James Logue and Adrian Cleere, who were part of the team and panel who defeated ancient rivals Kilkenny in the final. James has now won his third All Ireland, following Minor and U-21 success in 2007 and 2011. The three boys were accompanied by Martin Maher, Ballingarry G.A.A., father of the All-Ireland winning manager, William Maher, and of past pupil Laura Maher. We have had players directly involved with the last four Tipperary Teams to win U21 and Minor All Irelands since 2006.
