Active Retirement

The monthly meeting of Cashel Active Retirement Group takes place on Friday, October 26, at 3pm in Larkspur Park.

A good attendance is requested and new members welcome.

Halla na Feile

Social Tea Dance in Halla na Feile on Friday, October 26, with dancing from 9pm to midnight. Music is by the ever popular Dave Lawlor. Teas and sandwiches will be served and admission is €8. We look forward to seeing you and promise you an enjoyable evening of dancing.

Social Dancing Classes continue on Tuesday evenings with dancing from 8.30pm to 10.45pm. An extra half hour is added on for those who like ‘ballroom’ and all for €5.

Magician at Library

On Saturday, October 20, Cashel library will have a special visitor to our story-time slot. Local magician Dara McGrath will be in the library at 3pm to entertain children with lots of hocus pocus and amazing tricks! This fantastic treat will be provided by the Cashel Arts Festival to launch this year’s brochure and new website. We would encourage children and parents to come along to enjoy an afternoon of fun in your local library. Refreshments will be provided on the day and this event is free of charge.

Children’s Book Club

Our seven to nine year-olds book club will meet on Tuesday, October 23, at 7pm. New members are welcome.

Reminder: Our Halloween film night takes place Tuesday, October 30, at 6.30pm also our Halloween Fancy Dress is booking up fast please remember to book your place to avoid disappointment this event takes place on Wednesday, October 31, at 6.30pm

Toastmasters

The last meeting took place on Thursday, October 4. It was a great success with speeches from Gerita Casey, Declan Ryan and Paul Sheridan. A book review was given by Fidelma Collins on the author Alexander McCall Smith. The table topics was chaired by Fionnuala Greene. Our club was well represented in the recent Area 27 Final, on October 11, in the Park Hotel, Clonmel. Five of our club members entered the competition, Pat O’Donnell, Tom Russell, Declan Ryan, Fionnuala Greene and Fidelma Collins. In the humorous speech competition Fidelma came third, Fionnuala Greene came third in the table topics and Tom Russell came first in the table topics and will go on to represent Thurles Toastmasters. Our next meeting on Thursday, October 18, will have a Halloween flavour. Please come along to Gleeson’s Bar, (upstairs) Ladyswell Street for a fun evening.

Boxing Club

From Thursday, October 18, to Saturday, October 20, Cashel Boxing Club will be selling second hand books in the Tesco Shopping Centre and hopefully this will raise much needed funds for the purchase of new equipment for the club.

A date has also been set for Cashel Boxing Club Fashion Show which will take place in Halla Na Féile on December 7, at 8pm. More information and tickets for this event will be available shortly.

Anyone interested in joining the club, please call in to the club to fill out a membership application form. Training is taking place in the club premise on the Cahir road, opposite Lidl, from 6pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
