The second annual Noel Treacy Memorial Cup Tennis Tournament takes place at Castleview Tennis Club this Saturday, October 20.
The tournament is run in two separate sections, one for Grade 6 and 5 players and the second, Grade 4 and upwards.
This format was welcomed by all competitors as ensuring all players had a fair chance of winning the Memorial Cup offered to the winners of each section.
This year the Tournament will be run in the evening from 6pm.
The evening schedule is hoped to entice members to play and also enjoy the evening as a social outing.
Members are encouraged to bring food and drink and enjoy the evening in tribute to the late Noel Treacy, a well loved and remembered member of the Club.
Meanwhile, the Club is also planning its annual Winter Club Championships, which will take place in late November culminating in Finals Day on Saturday December 1.
The Tournament will be run for Club members over a fortnight and replaces the previous Winter League format that was run over several months.
The new format for this competition was enjoyed immensely by all members last year.
The Tournament provided a wide range of competition for those involved and the Round Robin format ensured all players got lots of court time. Closing date for entries is October 31.
Junior members have been enjoying their Saturday supervision sessions at the Club. Future plans for the juniors include outings to other local clubs to participate in friendly tournaments.
Ballinlough Tennis Club in Cork are hosting a Junior Open Singles Championships during the Halloween mid-term break.
The Tournament is being run from October 26 to 29 and the closing date for entries is this Friday, October 19.
Entries can be submitted online at www.ballinloughtennis.ie.
