This year marks the closure of St. Luke’s Hospital in Clonmel and as part of a series of events to mark this historic milestone in the history of the town and surrounding areas it is proposed to hold a final St. Luke’s Hospital Ball.

Traditionally the St.Luke’s Ball was a significant event in the local social calendar. The ball dates back over 70 years and was originally held in the hospital recreational hall before moving out to hotels in Clonmel from the 1980s. Some noted bands played for the event including Mick Delahunty, Michael O’Callaghan and Maurice Mulcahy and this year the exciting and talented big band the Pearly Whites will perform.

Arrangements have been made for Friday, November 30th with Hotel Minella as the venue. There will be a four-course meal followed by dancing to the Pearly Whites and disco. Tickets cost €50 and dress will be formal in keeping with the tradition of the ball.

All are welcome to attend what promises to be a night of good fun and nostalgia. Tickets are available through any of the ball committee members in St. Luke’s or at Marian’s in O’Connell Street, Clonmel.

The committee members are John Duane. Joe Cunningham. Ann Condon. Anne O’Meara. Ray Prendergast. Kathleen Burke and Ann Lonergan.
