Carrick-on-Suir’s Lions Club Youth Award winner Natasha Allen has won the regional final of the nationwide competition.

The Foroige nominee’s success in the regional final has earned her a place in the All-Ireland Youth Award final in Dublin in January.

This is the third time in a row the Carrick-on-Suir Lions Club’s candidate has qualified for the All-Ireland final.

Natasha’s win was announced at the Lions Club’s December meeting.

Letters of thanks were read from those who received donations from the Club recently.

A cheque for €500 was acknowledged from the Credit Union to mark its 50th anniversary.

President Stephanie Keating presented reports on the Fashion Show in Dove Hill, the street collection, the Peace Poster Competition and the Christmas party for senior citizens at the Carraig Hotel.

Vera Walsh was congratulated for her input to the Message in a Bottle campaign. She has, so far, distributed 300 bottles. Anyone needing a bottle should contact Vera or any Lion member.

There was a large number of requests from the food appeal and these were dealt with as generously as possible.

Christmas hampers, vouchers and fuel are being distributed.
