Ardfinnan Tidy Towns
We would ask people to refrain from throwing their household rubbish into the public bins or the plastic pipes along Main Street. Most of the time it is Tidy Town members who empty the bins, as the County Council collections are getting rarer. It is not a pleasant job so we would appreciate your consideration. Anyone who would like to help out with a litter pick next Saturday, July 27, meeting at 10.30am at the Community Centre, would be most welcome.
Anyone who wishes to put notes in the Nationalist please contact firstname.lastname@example.org ring 0527466923 or call to Helen Nugent before 6pm on Saturday. Don’t forget to follow ardfinnancommunitycouncil on Facebook and check out the new web site ardfinnantidytowns.ie.

Ballymacarbry win U12 County Final
On Sunday, July 14, Ballymacarbry took on Ballysaggart in the U12 C County Final in Fraher Field. Both sides knew it was going to be a close encounter having drawn earlier in the competition. Ballysaggart had the better start gaining an early lead of 1-1 to no score but the Ballymacarbry girls fought back and entered the half time break trailing by only 2 points. A tight battle was had in the second half with both teams giving it their all to the final whistle. The Ballymacarbry girls emptied the tanks to hold on to a one point lead and secure the title. Final score 3-3 to 3-2. The cup was presented by County Chairperson Peter Jordan to joint captains Chloe Wall and Emerald Proctor. Well done to the girls who trained hard all year, it all paid off! Also well done to Ballysaggart on a great close game, both teams did their clubs proud.

Ballylooby/Castlegrace 5-7 Moyle Rovers 2-10
Friday evening last in a sun drenched Newcastle Moyle Rovers came up against Ballylooby Castlegrace in Intermediate Football, a must win game for Ballylooby/Cg. For the first five minutes there was very little between the two teams, with both sides having some good chances, but first blood went to Moyle Rovers. Signs were not looking great for Ballylooby/Castlegrace and even got worse at the start of the second half when Moyle Rovers showed why they are such a force in Tipperary football when they increased there lead to 10 points with a point followed by a goal. Brian Fitzgerald kicked over a point which was to spark one of the great come backs. Ballylooby showed a level of determination that had not been since winning the SJFC in 2011. Moyle Rovers did not give up and only for some cool heads and hard work at the back by the likes of Brian Reidy and Capt. Kieran O’Donnell the scores could have been a lot different.
Derek O’Mahony blew the final whistle to great delight of the Ballylooby/Castlegrace team and supporters who showed up in good numbers. Congratulations to all involved. We now play Fr.Sheehys in the final game of the league series which I would encourage everyone to come out and support!

This weekend all attention will be focused on our intermediate hurlers who play Sean Treacy’s in the West semi-final.
