Clonmel Borough Council call for teaching levels to be reviewed

There was unanimous support at this month’s meeting of Clonmel Borough Council for the level of resource teachers and special needs assistants to be reviewed.

There was unanimous support at this month’s meeting of Clonmel Borough Council for the level of resource teachers and special needs assistants to be reviewed.

A motion was put forward by Workers and Unemployed Action Group (WUAG) member Cllr. Brian O’Donnell, who asked Clonmel Borough Council to write to the Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairí Quinn, asking him to re-examine the numbers of resource and special needs teachers at primary and post- primary schools. Cllr. O’Donnell said the demand for such educational assistance had increased.

The motion was supported by all council members and will be sent to Minister Quinn for his consideration.
