5 Mile Heart Walk
The second Annual Heart Foundation Walk took place around the parish on Saturday last. Weather for walking was absolutely wonderful.
All the walkers completed the 5 mile walk in fine fettle. The Heart Foundation thanks all those who organised the walk or who took part in it or subscribed and looks forward to seeing more people next year.
Hard Luck Lorraine
Hard luck to Lorraine O’Shea who was on the Tipp Ladies Football team who failed narrowly in the All-Ireland final in Croke Park on Sunday. Watching on TG4 Lorraine played well trying very hard and taking a couple of hard knocks. Lorraine’s mother was a selector on the team. Well done to both on getting so far and better luck next year.
On Saturday our U12 hurlers played Kilsheelan in the semi-final of the South Tipp championship. Kilsheelan started well and got into a 2-03 to 0-00 lead. We fought back and drew level half way through the second half. However, Kilsheelan rallied and scored 2 goals in the last quarter to run out winners.
The local group are still waiting for permission from South Tipperary Co. Council to erect notice poles in the parish. They are also awaiting dedicated text alert phone numbers from An Garda Siochána.
Sympathy to the sisters Margaret, Kitty and Nancy and brother John of Patrick O’Brien whose death took place during last week. During his army career Patrick was a top class marksman and also soldiered in the Congo. Congratulations to David Lonergan, Kyleafreaghane who married recently.
