Cahir Tidy Towns Group have been very active over the past few weeks with many gates been painted and weeds been disposed of from the kerbs.
The Railway bed and gates have been planted and this area looks particularly well. This was an area that Eamon O’Reilly was going to make his own until his untimely death and it’s a fitting tribute to him to have it looking so well.
The Group have been out and about on all roads and community spirit is standing up well. We have received some paint free of charge and would ideally like to paint the Library but this would need to be completed by registered contractors with all the gear and appropriate safe passes. Maybe a collective gathering of all registered painters in the town on one evening could do it as a community project for the town.
Judging could have taken place by now and if we passed the first phase we will be judged again later. We cannot let our guard down over the coming weeks and will continue to meet on Wednesdays in the car park from 7pm to 9pm. All are welcome.
Many thanks to Cahir Bingo Group for the repairs to the duck pen. This project to put ducks in the river last year could not have happened but for the financial support of the Bingo Group and is definitely one of the success stories of the town.
We are encouraging all groups and residents associations to designate a certain time each week to do a general tidy up and litter pick. You will be surprised at the many people that are willing to get involved.
Don’t forget, entry forms for this year’s Super Valu Town competition are available from the council office and cost only E5 per section. Closing date is July 24 so there is loads of time to get ready for it.
