Suicide Bereavement Support

A Suicide Bereavement Support information evening takes place next Monday evening, November 14, at 7pm in the Carraig Hotel. The purpose is to raise awareness of the supports that are available and to ask what additional supports that might be helpful. The event is facilitated by the HSE Regional Suicide Support Office and all are welcome.

Lions Fashion Extravaganza

The annual Lions Club Fashion Show fundraiser was one of the top social occasions of 2010 and nothing is being spared to at least match that this year. The event showcasing the town’s fashion takes place on Friday, November 18, starting at 8pm in Dove Hill. A free bus departs from outside the Carraig Hotel at 7.30pm and returns after the Sshow. Tickets at €E10 can be purchased from any of the participating shops and all proceeds go to the local Lions Club charities and the town’s Business Association.

Angel Day

This year’s Angel Day in aid of the Irish Wheelchair Association takes place this Friday, November 11, at all the usual locations. As this is the main fundraiser for the Association, the local committee would ask the people of Carrick on Suir and surrounding areas to be as generous as they have been in the past. Anyone who would like to give an hour or two at any of the collection points, please contact John at 051642867 or mobile at 0868969556.

Bring Used Batteries Back

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Body has a schools programme in association with Rehab Recycle in place and is visiting schools presenting waste battery recycling information to students in a fun and informative way. Schools are being helped to organise waste battery collections with students, teachers and parents, and the participating schools are rewarded with refurbished laptops. Batteries can be returned to the outlet where they were purchased and there is a collection bag available in the Town Hall, New Street. For more detailed information, check out

One-act plays at Brewery Lane

Brewery Lane Theatre fuels up its 2011 winter season with a wildly entertaining pairing of one-act plays. “Riverside Drive”is a very funny, very New York comedy gem by the brilliantly, witty and prolific American playwright Woody Allen and “The Shewing-up of Blanco Posnet” is a curiously moving melodrama in the American Wild-West by the passionate, controversial and always entertaining Irish Playwright George Bernard Shaw.

The double-bill performance will be staged for eight nights from Saturday, November 12, to Saturday, November 19. Booking at the Heritage Centre. Telephone 051640200. Tickets €E15. Doors open at 8pm and play commences at 8.15pm sharp.
