UNDER 14 FOOTBALLERS PROGRESS IN FEILE
Mitchelstown Under 14 footballers had a good win over Midleton 1-9 to 0 - 6 in the Co Feile Peil at Mitchelstown on Saturday evening. The opening half was close with Midleton having two early points. Town had a point by George Pendle. At the break Midleton led 0-3 to 0-2. Mitchelstown did very well in the second half The sides were level 0-3, 0-5 and 0-6 after 12 minutes. Mitchelstown
dominated the last quarter adding a goal and three points without reply to run out deserving winners.
CBS HURLERS BEATEN
Mitchelstown CBS Under 14 hurlers were well beaten by Colaiste Choilm Ballincollig in the Cork Colleges Under 14 B HC semi final at Watergrasshill on Wednesday last. From the start the CBS were under a lot of pressure with the fullback line under constant pressure from a very well balanced Ballincollig side.
CBS had the wind in the first half but they trailed at the interval 0-5 to 0-1. In the second half Ballincollig helped by an early goal went on a scoring spree and eventually ran out winners by 3- 16 to 0- 4.
PRESENTATION OF FATIMA
There will be a very special presentation on the Message of Fatima in the Parish Church Mitchelstown this Thursday, March 29, at 8pm. The presentation will be given by Solvita and Thomas McCormack. All are most welcome.
There was a huge crowd at the Parish Church on Saturday last for Faith Healer Eddie Stones.
The monthly meeting on the Garabandal apparitions will take place this Sunday, April l, at 3.30pm in the Town Hall.
THE LATE MAUREEN KENNEDY
The death occurred on March 21, at the Mid West Regional Hospital Limerick, of Maureen Kennedy (Nee White) Southill House, Roxboro Road, Limerick, and formerly of Mitchelstown. The late Maureen was a member of a well known family in the Mitchelstown area. There was a large attendance at the removal on Friday evening from Cross’s Funeral Home Limerick to the Holy Family Church Southill and also at the Requiem Mass and burial on Saturday. Interment took place to Mount St. Oliver’s Cemetery. To her husband Gerard, sister Teresa (Sherlock), brothers Michael, Seamus, Billy, sisters in law, brother in law, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, relatives and many friends we tender our sincere sympathy.
THE LATE JOHN CONROY
The death occurred in Bradford, Leeds, on March 17, of John Conroy, 1 Captain Keane’s Grove, Mitchelstown, The late John who was relatively young was in ill health for a short while. There was a very large attendance at the removal on Saturday evening from O’Brien’s Funeral Home, Mitchelstown to the Parish Church and also at the Requiem Mass and burial on Sunday. Interment took place to the adjoining cemetery. To his son Justin, father Pat, brothers Patrick, Michael, Paul, Marcus, Dave, Peter, sisters Marjorie (Daly) Claire, brothers in law, sisters in law, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends we tender our sincere sympathy.
THE LATE CHRISSIE HOLTON.
The death took place unexpectedly on March 21 of Chrissie Holton (Nee O’Sullivan) at her residence Ballyshonack, Kildorrery. The late Chrissie was very well known locally. She was predeceased by her husband Teddy. There was a very large attendance at the removal on Friday night from Hannon’s Funeral Home Kildorrery to the local St Bartholomew’s Church and also at the Requiem mass and burial on Saturday. Interment took place to the local cemetery. To Tom, sister Josie (Roche), sister in law Lena, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, relatives and many friends we tender our sincere sympathy.
