ST PATRICK’S LADIES GAA CLUB

Under 10’s

Our u10 girls played their third round county blitz last Saturday, August 4. Despite being missing a few girls due to holidays we were still able to field two teams. The girls thoroughly enjoyed the morning and our thanks to the Mullinahone Club for hosting the blitz and for their hospitality. The fourth and final round blitz is scheduled for next weekend, were we will be the hosts.

Under 14’s

On Saturday, August 11, our u14 girls took part in a Munster 14’s blitz organised by Cahir Ladies GAA Club. We were drawn in a strong group with St Vals (Cork) and Dungarvan. Our girls performed with great credit in their group notching up a 1-2 score against Dungarvan who had 4 inter-county players who won this years All-Ireland. This left us in the ‘C’ competition. A semi-final win over a very gallant Killenaule secured a place in the final v Moycarkey. The girls just could not get that elusive score and we were defeated by 2 points despite playing really well. Well done to all. Many thanks to Liam Shinnick and all in Cahir Ladies GAA for a great competition.

Best wishes to Abby Maher who received an injury on the day. Thanks to all parents and players for the commitment to this blitz.

Junior Team

The junior team played local neighbours Fethard in a challenge match on Wednesday, August 8. Whilst the first half was a close encounter, with St. Patrick’s trailing by 3 points at half time - Fethard pulled away in the second half with a flurry of goals and ran out easy winners. Our thanks to Fethard for the game and best wishes to them for their remaining matches in the Junior B Championship.

On Saturday, August 11, we played Cahir B in the Junior D Championship in Anner Park Cloneen, with the St. Patrick’s ladies recording a second victory in the D Championship. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Aishing O’Donnell from Cahir who picked up an injury during the match. We are scheduled to play Emly away next weekend, details not finalised at present.
