Tullahought Heritage Week

The official opening of Tullahought Heritage Week and Art Exhibition takes place this Friday, August 17, at 8.30pm with a cheese and wine exhibition and followed at 9pm with a lecture on Townlands presented by Alan Counihan. This Townlands project undertaken involved the recording of field names within Tullahought and Knickeen townlands. Friday evening will conclude with a traditional music session in the Community Centre.

The Art Exhibition in conjunction with Kilkenny Arts week runs throughout the week in the Community Centre with paintings by local artists.

On Saturday 18th there will be an under 12s Camoige and Hurling blitz in the Sportsfield for the Mike Williams Memorial Shield starting at 3pm and later in the evening there will be a lecture on the Ossory High Crosses at Kilkieran, Ahenny, Killamery and Kilree in the Community Centre. At 8.30pm there will be a CD of the Conservation Plan for the Crosses shown.

On Sunday afternoon in the Community Centre there will be Traditional Craft demonstrations such as knitting and crochet expertise, butter making etc as well as food sampling. The Tullahought Loop Walk takes place at 2.30pm.

Admission is free with car parking available, wheelchair accessible and all events suitable for children.
