RECENT WEDDING

Congratulations to John Quinlan, Shanbally, Clogheen, and Siobhain Meehan, Cahir, who were married recently in Cahir Church. The reception was in Kilcoran Lodge Hotel. We wish the happy couple many years of health and happiness together.

SHOW JUMPING SUCCESS

Congratulations to Caoimhe Murphy, Bruree, Co Limerick, who has qualified for show jumping and dressage events at the R.D.S. next weekend, she also qualified for national events at Campile, Co Wexford. Caoimhe is daughter of Ger and Rebecca Murphy and granddaughter of Michael and Eileen O’Connor, Clogheen.

KNOCKMEALDOWN ACTIVE BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND WALK

Over 30 people set out on the 8k walk on the newly formed Clogheen Loop in conjunction with St Pauls Community weekend. We would like to thank Mary McGrath who supplied us with welcomed refreshments on our return, and to all the walkers who participated.

BANK HOLIDAY TUG OF WAR

Congratulations to The Kilcoran Stags who won the tug of war competition at St Paul’s community weekend. There was four teams, Ballylooby, Araglin, Graigue and the winners The Stags. The next pull will be eagerly awaited. Well done to all concerned.

RECENT BEREAVEMENTS

Deepest sympathies are extended to Meave Carey and family (Clogheen Chemist) whose mother Mrs Kitty Kiely died in Clonmel over the bank holiday weekend

And sympathies to Maureen Burke and family (Clogheen postwoman) on the recent death of her father Pat O’Donaghue, Araglin. May they both rest in peace.

DRAIOCHT

Only two shows remaining, on Thursdays, August 16 and 23. This fast moving traditional music, song and dance show in St. Paul’s Community Centre, Clogheen, is a must see show. It opens at a slow pace culminating to a pulsating set of reels when the dancers announce their arrival with a burst of colour and sound. The musicians include Richie Murray on pipe and flute, Ciarán Mulderrig on keyboards, Conor Moriarty on Box and Jessie Healy on fiddle. It is a credit to its Director Michael Ryan and the voluntary group of parents who assist nightly. Lead dancers Deirdra Kiely and Michelle Kelly have a troupe of 40 dancers in their charge this year. Doors at 8.15pm. Tickets €15, €10 for under 12 years. A show not to be missed, for tickets contact 0862243323.

BRIAN BORU’S FOOTBALL

Well done to Maureen Murphy and Claire Walsh from our club who are part of the Tipperary U 16 County team which beat Kildare last week on a score line of Tipp 3.13, Kildare 2.09. Best of luck to the girls and all involved in the All Ireland Final.
