Busy week ahead for Swan teams



Carrick Swan junior hurlers played Thurles Sarsfields in a county league semi-final last week and came away with a great win after extra time 1-21 to 1-19. Well done to all concerned and best of luck in final against Clonoulty. This team play re-fixed south championship fixture against Moyle Rovers on Wednesday evening in Kilsheelan at 7.30p.m. Our minor hurling championship fixture against Kilsheelan scheduled for Friday night last was postponed following a county directive.

Carrick Swan under 14 hurlers played their final group game against Moyle Rovers on the Green last week and ran out comfortable winners. We await semi-final fixture at time of writing with Ballyneale/Grangemockler our likely opponents. Our under 12 (B) team played Davins in Davin Park last week and had a narrow victory which qualifies them for semi-final place against Cahir this week. Our division 1 semi-final in this age group took place on Saturday in Kilsheelan where Cahir provided the opposition and proved too strong winning 3-04 to 1-06. Carrick Swan’s under 6 and under 8 teams played friendly games against Piltown on The Green on Tuesday evening with some great entertainment for all those in attendance while our under 12 hurlers took part in Piltown tournament over the week end. We thank the Piltown club for their invitation to take part. Carrick Swan under 16 hurlers entertained a visiting Killeagh team from Cork in very useful challenge match on Wednesday evening last with some great hurling from both teams. We played Ballingarry on Tuesday evening in championship game and we play St.Pats on Thursday evening – reports next week. Thanks to the ladies committee who provided refreshments for the visiting Cork team. Our under 14 camogie team were defeated by a stronger Eire Og-Annacarty team in county league quarter final last week.

Carrick Swan under 8 panel will travel to Dublin on Saturday next to play friendly games against the O’Dwyers club followed by trip to Croke Park. Bus will leave club rooms at 8.30a.m. and all panel members will receive a timetable of events during the week.

Our under 10 hurlers will participate in a Mullinahone tournament on Saturday, August 25. All players will receive notification in advance.

We wish James Barrett a speedy recovery having undergone further knee surgery this week. Hope to see him back on the playing field soon.

Carrick Swan club extends its sympathy to the family of Eddie Cronin, Ballyglasheen who died recently. Eddie had a great interest in the fortunes of Tipperary and Carrick Swan throughout his life.
