THOMASTOWN NATIONAL SCHOOL
Thomastown National School will hold their annual Kiddies Halloween fancy dress disco on Monday, October 29, in the Community Hall Golden from 6pm to 8pm. Disco music, flashing lights and tuck shop available on the night so bring the kids along for a great evening.
Our U6 hurlers travelled to Clonmel on Saturday, October 13, to play St Mary’s in their final games of the year. We played three games winning two, drawing one. From the throw in we had great defending from Sam Hall, Ming Brennan, Barry Molumby and Lee Casey. James MacLaughlin, Keelan Casey, David Ryan, Eoin White and Kate Marnane kept the pressure on the St Mary’s back line and David Ryan and James MacLaughlin proved too strong and got some good scores. Ming Brennan scored the goal of the day in the final minutes from a sideline ball. Thanks to all the parents for bringing the kids to training and matches during the year and for all their help. We would like to wish the Tierney family every good wish as they head off to Australia and thanks to Tom for all his help with the U6s and U8s in the past few years. Two U8 teams also travelled to Clonmel. Each team contested two matches with some great hurling on show. Both teams won one match and drew one. Well done to all involved. Teams: Brian Marnane, Jack Horan, Gavin Dalton, Ben Currivan, Aaron Colohan, Laurence Forrester, Jack Dalton, Shauna Casey, Ciaran Byrne, Cian Ryan, Eanna Ormond, Padraig Dalton, Lee Hayes, Bobby Smith, Ava Agar, Ella O’Dwyer, Brian McKnight, Jenny Ryan. Well done also to Annemarie Keane, Patrick Dalton and the other mentors who put in a huge amount of effort with the U8 teams. They will all now take a break for the winter. The U10s were also in Clonmel and defeated St Mary’s. A special mention must go to the girls on the team who never gave up. This team and the U12s are training once a week under Mitchell Heffernan, Brian Leamy and Tom O’Donnell.
Congratulations to Shane O’Connell who played at corner back for the Tipperary U17 footballers in their Munster championship win over Waterford. Best of luck to Shane in Friday’s game against Clare.
