The death occurred on October 17 at St Patrick’s Community Hospital, Fermoy, of Mai Power (Nee Murphy), 2 Liam Lynch Park, Mitchelstown, and Broomhill, Mitchelstown. Mai was predeceased by her husband Batt. There was a large attendance at the removal on Friday evening from O’Brien’s Funeral Home Mitchelstown to the Parish Church and also at the Requiem Mass and burial on Saturday. Interment took place to the adjoining cemetery. To her son Batt, daughter Patricia (Roche), sisters Christina, Hanora, Margaret, Nora, Lizzie, cousins Michael, William and Joseph, son in law Willie, daughter in law Mary, brother Mossie, sister in law Eily, grandchildren Trudy, David, Shane, Sandra, great grandchildren, Mark and Tom, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends, we tender our sincere sympathy.
THE LATE STEPHEN POWER
The death occurred on October 11 at the Bon Secours Hospital of Stephen Power, Robert St, Mitchelstown. Stephen worked for many years as a salesman with Mitchelstown Creameries. He was predeceased by his wife Mary Ellen. He was very well known locally being a member of the local Lions Club for many years. There was a large and represented attendance at the removal on Sunday night from O’Brien’s Funeral Home to the local Parish Church. The local Lions Club performed a guard of honour as the coffin was shouldered into the Church. There was also a fine attendance at the Requiem Mass and burial on Monday. Interment took place to Brigown New Cemetery. To his son Bertie, daughter Bernadette (Roulet), son in law Michael, daughter in law Hannah, sisters in law, grandchildren, Nicholas, Clarissa, Marc, and Caroline, nephews, nieces, relatives neighbours and friends we tender our sincere sympathy.
THE LATE LAR LAWTON
The death occurred on October 18, at Mallow General Hospital, of Lar Lawton Dunmahon, Glanworth. Lar was very well known locally. There was a large and represented attendance at the removal on Saturday evening from O’Brien’s Funeral Home, Mitchelstown, to Holycross Church, Glanworth and also at the Requiem Mass and burial. Interment took place to St Dominic’s Cemetery. To his sister Elizabeth (Cummins), brother in law Connie, nephews, John Pat and Connie, niece Bridget, relatives, neighbours and friends we tender our sincere sympathy.
KILDORRERY HURLERS DRAW
Kildorrery Junior A hurlers played a draw in the Co JAHC final at Pairc Ui Rinn on Sunday against Brian Dillons. Kildorrery trailed all through til injury time. A goal by Peter O’Brien and a point by Cormac O’Baoill edged them ahead in the dying moments. Brian Dillons secured a free deep in injury time that saw the sides finish all square on a 2-15 to 1-18 scoreline. The replay is listed for Sunday, October 4 in Pairc Ui Rinn.
BALLYGIBLIN TAKE MINOR HURLING LEAGUE TITLE
Ballygiblin Minor hurlers completed their playing programme for 2012 with a win over Churchtown in the 12-aside Minor C/D Hurling league final at Castletownroche. The winners dominated from the start and built up a commanding 5-10 to 1-1 lead at the break. The second half was much the same and in the end they were victorious by 9-19 to 3-2.
