Favoured with mixed weather conditions, celebrations in Newcastle were as usual most impressive.
Christmas Eve Mass at 12 midnight was very well attended as was Christmas morning Mass. Fr Desmond expressed sincere good wishes to all parishioners and thanked them all for their good attendance. Also thanked were the many people out in any way preparing for the special festivities, with a special thanks to our sacristan for her continued dedication to the church duties, thanks also to the servers who never fail to turn up. This year again both the senior and junior choirs introduced some new Christmas hymns and were complimented on doing so.
Thanks also to the Fas who erected and decorated the Christmas tree in the centre of the village and for the Christmas lights outside the Community hall and Tig-Na-nDaoine.
To the postmistress Catherine, assistant Helen, postman
Cathal and helper, the
local business people and
their staff for their courtesy
and efficiency to each and
every one during the Christmas rush
The best of health and happiness in 2013 is extended to all the readers of the “Newcastle Notes” and a sincere thanks to the clubs and individuals who supply news items during the year.
