County Manager Billy McEvoy explained to the budget meeting that the details of the scheme will not be known until the new year.

He went to thank all those who paid the Household Charge in the county this year.

To the end of November 68% of households had paid the €100 charge, in line with the national average.

Cllr Pat English expressed concern the charge will be added to tenants’ rent, but Mr McEvoy said that would be a decision for the national government
