The fund raising quiz run in the Stack of Barley on Friday night last in aid of the new Community Park and Childrens’ Playground was very successful. 19 tables took part. Dick Maher was question master.

At the end of a grand evening the winners were the White Maher team of Jim and Teresa White, Rossane and Seamus and Judy Maher, Jamestown. The Una O’Gorman McGowan team finished a close second. Well done to all who competed.

The organising committee would like to thank all who took part, who sponsored prizes or who helped out in any way.

Mile buiochas.

The Community Park Committee will be bag packing in Dunne’s Stores, Davis Road, Clonmel, on this Friday and Saturday, March 15 and 16. They are asking anybody, especially parents, to donate two hours of their time to help.

It wasn’t the best of weekends for the local GAA club. Our U21 footballers lost out by a goal in their long delayed match with Clonmel Og. They are now out of the championship. The club’s minor footballers begin their campaign on Saturday afternoon next. The U21 loss was softened somewhat by the good displays of Eoin Kelly and Paul Curran in the league game win over Kilkenny.

The weekend also saw the second appearance of the new CJK newsletter bringing up to date and historical GAA news to the community.

The last local lotto draw took place on Monday, March 4. The numbers drawn were 2, 11, 16 and 30. There was no jackpot winner on teh night which allowed Mary Gunn to scoop the match 3 prize of €150. Congratulations Mary!

The next jackpot draw will take place on Tuesday night next, due to the bank holiday. The jackpot could be worth up to €5,500!
