What a great day last Sunday was for Mrs Katie Ryan, The Square and presently Woodlands Nursing Home who celebrated her 99th birthday with her family, friends and nursing home staff. With your health Katie you’ll have no trouble in spending the President’s big cheque! Birthday greetings to Cathriona O’Neill, Knockane and Limerick who celebrated her 30th birthday at Coughlan’s on Saturday last. Greetings were also in order for twins Jack and Sarah Armshaw, Clonganhue, who celebrated their 11th birthday with a bang last week. Greetings to their cousin Shauna Ryan who celebrated her 13th birthday last week.


There will be a tea day in Ozanam Houseon Friday, March 22, from 10am to 4pm.


To the Walsh family Philipstown, Ceilia, Trish and Caroline who buried their Aunt Mary on Friday, March 8. To her husband and son too sympathy is extended. Mary’s remains were interred in St. Michael’s cemetery Tipperary.

Shelia O’Ryan (fondly known as Julia) was born in Knockane, Cappawhite and always kept up the friendship with her Cappawhite cousins who will miss her visits and phone calls. Shelia’s remains were interred in St. Michael’s cemetery Tipperary.

Green School Action Day Wednesday, March 6. Pupils walked or cycled to school on the day led by Aoife O’Meara, “Pride of Tipperary,” a past pupil of the school. Thanks to parents and grandparents who helped with our Action Day. Great work was carried out in the school grounds and in the village. Senior pupils organised a litter clean up on Church Street, Junior pupils carried out weeding and bulb planting in the school grounds. Pupils from Third and Fourth class visited the Day Care Centre, where they displayed their history projects. The afternoon was spent on bicycle repair workshop, organised by Jane Kelleher from An Taisce. Cappawhite N.S. hopes to secure its fourth Green Flag by the end of the school year.

22 pupils from Cappawhite N.S. will receive the sacrament of Confirmation in the Church of the Holy Rosary on Friday, March 15.
