Carrick Davin senior hurlers started their Tipperary Challenge Cup campaign with a loss against a strong Borris-ileigh side under lights in St. Molleran’s.

This match was always going to be a tough task with the North Tipperary team fielding all their inter county stars. Alongside this, it was only the Davin team’s second outing of the year.

The Davin players hurled very well and could have won if they had been more accurate with taking frees.

The final score was 1-10 to 0-16.

The team’s second challenge cup fixture was to be last Sunday against Clonoulty-Rossmore but Davin Park was in bad condition and the game had to be postponed to a later date that has yet to be decided.

The U-21 Davin/Ballyneale Grangemockler football team’s season came to an end last Saturday in Monroe. They were defeated by Killenaule in the South Semi-Final.

The combination team came under a lot of pressure in the first half but managed to keep the game level at half time thanks to the accuracy of Jack O’Hanlon and Kyle Walsh.

They started well in the second half Jack O’Hanlon scoring a goal.

But Killenaule played some great running football and managed a late goal to put them 2 points to the good. The combination team never recovered from the goal and lost 1-10 to 2-5.

The Davin Club thank all involved with this team over the past couple of months and especially Jim O’Meara for taking the training sessions.

Training for the minor and U-16 footballers will continue on the all-weather pitch. Players will be notified of times and dates by text.

Training for the U-6s, U-8s, U-10s and U-12s continues every Tuesday. Training for U-6s and U-8s runs from 6pm to 7pm while training for U-10s and U-12s takes place from 7pm to 8pm.

Membership fees are now due. Subscriptions are only E€20 for adults, E€10 for minors and €E5 for juveniles.
