In the community games for U11s, Cashel enjoyed a good win over Clonmel’s St. Mary’s on Friday.
The game began with Cashel facing the breeze. A free taken by TJ Barron caught the Clonmel goalie off-guard as it sailed into the net to hand Cashel an early lead. Ben White won possession on the edge of the square and duly fired to the net to double our lead. Some stout defending and good goalkeeping kept St. Mary’s at bay. They did tack on two points to leave the halftime score Cashel 2-0 St. Mary’s 0-2 and all to play for.
The second half began with another Mary’s point to reduce the lead. But it was Ben White once again that buried another goal. Donal Ryan then got in on the act with the deftest of flicks his effort went to the net to increase Cashel’s lead and set us up for victory. This was a very good display from the lads and a decent victory over a good St. Mary’s side. Each player can be proud of their efforts. One step at a time and next up is a clash with Powerstown/Lisronagh in the south Semi final in Monroe (Moyle Rover Grounds) tonight Wednesday, May 22, at 7pm.
