G.A.A: Due to unforeseen circumstances our county Minor and Senior Football League matches were cancelled last weekend. Next Sunday we make our debut in the Senior Football championship when we travel to Monroe to take on Killenaule at 3pm.
MASCOT: It was nice to see one of our U/12 players Conor Murphy chosen as the mascot for the Tipperary Team for last Saturday night’s game v Waterford in Semple Stadium. He was included in the team photo, and joined Paddy Finnucane for live commentary on the match for the first half. He went out with the captains of both teams to toss the coin with the referee. Conor received a special write up in the match programme.

BALLYPATRICK SPORTS CENTRE - A.G.M: A somewhat disappointing attendance at our AGM on March 1. Nevertheless, a successful and busy year was reviewed and plans for the ongoing development of the Club were discussed. The following Officers and committee were elected to guide the fortunes of the Club for the next twelve months. President: Eddie Holohan, Hon. Secretary: Mary Jo Kehoe, Hon Treasurer: John Tobin, Vice President: Attracta O’Reilly, Tennis Captain: Rose Holohan. Committee: Cathal Boland, Tom Flood, Rosaleen Foley, Rosie Murphy, Ebbie O’Reilly, Stanley O’Reilly, Richard Roche Nagle, Johnny Purcell, Brenda Rowan and Liam Tobin.
MEETINGS: The monthly committee meeting will be held on the last Tuesday of each month.
MEMBERSHIP: A reminder that renewals are now due and fees can be paid to any committee member.
TENNIS: Well done to our Munster Winter League team, Rose Holohan, Aoife Murphy, Peter Kennedy and Richard Murphy (subbing for Peter Holt) on their great victory in Cork over Douglas. They now meet another Douglas quartet in the Quarter Final on Sunday next March 13th in Ballypatrick. Be there to give them your support and all in the Club wish them well.
MEMBERS SPRING LEAGUE: This popular competition is now in full swing, with much activity on our courts each evening. As a date has been set for the Semi Finals and Final, all participants are urged to continue to play their matches without delay and not hold up proceedings in the latter stages. Thanks to all for their co-operation thus far, so keep up the good work.
KILCASH COMMUNITY CENTRE - CARDS: A very good turnout for the school game on last Wednesday night. 11 tables played and clear winners on 13 games were Carol and Eddie Gibbs with Tom Larkin and Denis Brennan taking second place with 11 games. The game continues on Wednesday night, again proceeds going to Kilcash National School funds. Please note that the card game continues as usual on the eve of St Patrick’s night Wednesday March 16th beginning at 8.30pm sharp.
KILLURNEY SPORTS & SOCIAL CLUB: Calling all dart enthusiasts to Ballypatrick on Saturday March 19 for the annual Tommy Cahill Dart Tournament. Further details next week.
KPLAN FOROIGE: Registration for the Foroige group will take place in the community rooms, Kilsheelan on Thursday evening March 9 from 7-8pm. All those in the 13-18 age group are very kindly invited to come along and join this new group.
TODDLER GROUP: A number of people are anxious to commence a Toddler/Minder group in the Kilsheelan area. On Wednesday morning March 16 from 10.30-12pm we invite all those with an interest or experience in a toddler/minder group to come along to the community rooms and discuss how this group can be set up. Please feel free to bring the toddlers with you. WEEKLY LOTTO: No match three winners on February 28th, so the following receive a lucky dip prize of €25: Mick O Connell, Elaine Lyons, Debbie Lyons, Joan Coady, Pat Murray and John Cashman. Seller’s prize to Catherine Nolan. This week’s draw takes place in Nagles with the jackpot at €4,000.
HOLLY WALK: Sincere congratulations to the winners of the Holly Walk competition. This consisted of all the young people attending primary school who participated in the walk to write about the walk and what it meant to them. A wonderful response resulted in truly inspiring entries. We say a special thank you to all those who took the time to write about their experiences and congratulate the winners: First place - Aoife Barry, second prize - Sinead Butler and third prize goes to Conor Murphy.
