Eighty senior citizens and young St Vincent de Paul volunteers from Carrick-on-Suir enjoyed a summer outing to some of Co. Wexford’s top visitor attractions.

Members of St Colman’s Youth Conference of the St Vincent de Paul organised the bus trip for local senior citizens on Saturday, July 13.

First stop was tea and scones in the Rhu Glenn Hotel near Waterford. The senior citizens then had a choice of shopping in New Ross, a visit to the National Irish Heritage Park, Ferrycarraig or Loftus Hall at Hook Head.

The Heritage Park was enjoyable by all who chose to visit it. There was a tour provided or you could go to the café and walk the site yourself. In Loftus Hall, the visitors acted out its famous card game and learned about the hall’s interesting history.

The outing finished with a fantastic meal at The Rhu Glenn where a novelty raffle was organised and music entertainment provided.

Many of the senior citizens and St Vincent de Paul volunteers spent the evening dancing and they also enjoyed a performance from Irish dance troop “Na Cosa Damhsa”.
