The Glen of Aherlow Fáilte Society will hold its annual Church gate Collection the weekend of May 21 and 22 at all Masses in Bansha. All funds contribute to the ongoing upkeep of amenity, recreational and community areas within the Glen. We thank you in anticipation of your support.

County Draw

County draw members and promoters should remember that the new draw kicks off this Friday night with a star prize of a Skoda Superb or €30,000. There is a total prize fund of half a million euro over the year and 50% of the proceeds stays in your local club. Please support.


Intending members should note that membership is now overdue and should be paid immediately to registrar, Michael Barry or alternately to Brian Shiels or John Morrissey. A list of all paid up members will soon be displayed in the clubrooms.


Well done to the Galtee Aherlow under 12 second string who won out their league after a great semi-final and final performance last Thursday night.

County Leagues

No joy for our footballers or hurlers last week as they were both defeated in their respective county league games. In football we lost out to Éire Óg at home while our hurlers were well beaten by Aherlow on Sunday evening in Lisvernane.

Ladies Football

Our U 12 girls were back in action again this week with a home game against Cappawhite. The two teams were well matched and scores were evenly spread out in the first half with Cappa leading by 2pts at half time. The Galtee girls came out in the second half with all guns a blazing and ran out strong winners on a score line of 5 - 6 to 2 - 6. Well done girls. Their next game is against Mullinahone. First Holy Communion

First Holy Communion will take place in Bansha Church this coming Sunday at May 22 at 11.30am.

Church Notices

The Trocaire Lenten collection amounted to €3,190, your contributions are much appreciated. A thank you letter was received from Sr. Leoine O Callaghan FMSA of the Missionary sisters of Africa who spoke at all Masses in the parish recently, she expressed her thanks for the contribution of €2,101 that was contributed.
