Kilsheelan-Kilcash

G.A.A: In the County Minor Football league we had a home match against Golden-Kilfeacle. This was a close game all through and the result was in doubt right to the end with Kilsheelan just holding on to win.

In the final group match we received a walkover from Mullinahone. This means that they are through to the Semi Finals. In the South Minor Football “A” Final Kilsheelan Gaels will meet Commercials and the match will be played after the exams.

Following their 2-18 to 2-15 victory over Dungarvan in the Clonea Hurling Tournament it was back to Clonea to take on Butlerstown in the Semi Final on Saturday night when they won 2-12 to 2-11.

Clonmel High School are making history this Wednesday when they challenge for honours in the Rice Cup Final V Midleton in Fraher Field, Dungarvan at 2pm. We are proud to have four players on the team, Daire Brennan, Martin Gibbs, Kevin Kehoe and Brendan Martin.

It is a great honour for the Club to have three players on the Tipperary Minor Football panel to take on Kerry in Thurles on Wednesday night. We wish Bill Maher, Adrian McGuire and Conor Davin Murphy all the best and also their Manager David Power.

Any member who requires tickets for the Tipp V Cork game please give your name to the Secretary at 6133270 before Friday May 20th.

BALLYPATRICK SPORTS CENTRE - JUNIOR TENNIS: At our Club committee meeting on May 10th the success of the Junior Tennis sessions during the Easter break were noted and further sessions are planned for May 28th and June 18th, when it is hoped that a full attendance of junior members will be present. Plans are also afoot for a Junior Tennis Camp (5 days) from June 27th to July 1st. Further details later.

Our social sub-committee outlined plans for the Club’s Summer Outing. This year it is planned to visit Bru Boro (Cashel) on July 23rd and places must be booked in advance so watch out for further details in order to secure your place.

TENNIS: With the Summer competition season now getting into full swing, many members are involved in Open weeks and Inter Firms in neighbouring Clubs and dates and details of upcoming events are posted in the Clubhouse. The Club has one team entered in the Munster Summer competitions and entries will be made shortly in the ever popular South Tipp League.

CONGRATULATIONS: All in the Club were delighted to hear that our popular Tennis Captain Rose Holohan has been selected to represent Munster in the Veterans Inter Provincial Tennis championships. Rose joined three Cork ladies in representing their Province against the other three provinces in Salthill, Galway at the weekend. Well done Rose and congratulations on your achievement in bringing such honour to yourself, your family and your Club. A well deserved recognition for your dedication and commitment.

MEETING: Committee members should please note that the next meeting of Club committee takes place on Tuesday May 31st at 9pm.

DEFIBRILLATOR: Our Club was delighted to be included among the Clubs and groups that were recipients of a life saving A.E.D. from the Boston Scientific (Clonmel) Charity Awards. This potentially life-saving machine is an invaluable piece of equipment for any Club and we are extremely grateful to Boston Scientific for their generous gesture. Training in the use of the defibrillator is now being organised and it is hoped that a good cross section of Club members will volunteer for training.

KILCASH COMMUNITY CENTRE - CARDS: The season came to a conclusion with a great turnout for the Ladies Club promotion on Wednesday night. The winners on 11 games were Essie Walsh and Tony Dempsey with Jim and Mary Garrett in runners up spot with a score of 10 games. Many more went home with a nice prize from the great raffle and all enjoyed the lovely catering fare on offer and looked forward to the resumption of the new season’s game in September. Again sincere appreciation to all our patrons, past and present.

SPONSORED WALK: Planning is now in hand, for the enhancement of the facilities in our Community Centre with considerable expense involved. To help boost our funds, we are hoping to increase the financial yield from our Annual Sponsored Walk. To do this, we need greater numbers taking part and raising sponsorship. The leisurely five mile trek through the local forest takes place on Friday evening May 27th beginning at 7.30pm. So we request as many as possible to take a Sponsorship Card, raise a few euro for a worthwhile cause and enjoy a pleasant saunter through scenic surrounds.
