The Kelloggs GAA Cul Camp in Kilsheelan ran from Monday to Friday last week. 75 children registered, from ages 6 to 13, and had roughly even numbers in each age range. On Monday a lot of excited young people rushed through the gates and were delighted to see our own local Inter County players Bill and Paul Maher among the coaching staff.
On Tuesday we had a visit from Tipp FM, who brought along Tipperary County hurler Kieran Bergin. Kieran spent time with each group, giving advice and answering questions. There was also a long puck competition involving the Tipp FM DJs, Kieran Bergin, Bill Maher, County Board Chairman and local man Sean Nugent, and our Juvenile Chairperson (and All-Ireland camogie winner) Meadhbh Freaney. Cheered on by the children, Bill won out. Later on the same day, the children had a visit from Tipperary ladies footballer Niamh Lonergan. Wednesday saw the young players receive their kits - a bag, shorts, socks and a jersey and the village was awash with red and white.
On Thursday we had another Inter County visitor in camogie player Cora Hennessy, who again spent time with each group. Both the visits of Cora and Niamh were of particular interest to our girls group, which numbered 23 in all - our biggest group of the week. The camp finished up with the children getting treats for all their hard work.
A huge amount of thanks and respect has to go to Noel Russell and his coaching team of Dara, Tom, Lorraine, Maeve and Bill, who all made the camp such fun that the children did not even realise they were learning new skills.
We also had Aoife Cosgrave and Paul Maher helping out, and again massive thanks to them, and to Meadhbh Freaney, who was there every day, organising, helping and cleaning up. Finally well done to everyone who took part - hopefully all enjoyed it and will be back next year.
We wish Paul Maher and the Tipperary Minor Football team well in the Quarter Final against Monaghan next weekend. Congratulations to Liam Corcoran who won €500 and Joe Lyons Knockrathkelly on winning €200 in the July County Draw.

Our deepest sympathy is expressed to the family and neighbours of our late great friend, Joe Grinsell. A gentleman to his fingertips, the incredible numbers who turned up for his removal and guard of honour bore testimony to his popularity.
A most gentle of souls, he was an all round sportsman, a natural swimmer and perhaps best known for his participation in so many races, irrespective where the run was, there was Joe in his own inimitable style and always keeping that little burst in reserve to burn off any opposition over those last difficult 200 yards.
It won’t be the same running over the coming months, as Joe’s absence will be noted and felt by all. There is scarcely a road, a footpath or a boreen in South Tipperary, Kilkenny, Waterford, Cork and even further afield that Joe did not leave his gentle mark on with him always willing to support any kind of a race that any group held.
He was a great supporter of the Kilsheelan 10Km and indeed he even ran the inaugural five miler in Clerihan the night before he passed away. A great friend, he simply could never do enough for you. May he rest in peace.

There was a brilliant atmosphere and buzz in the village for the whole event with the whole community coming out and supporting.
This was a great community effort and the Club would like to thank everyone who helped to make this event such a success. The Post Race refreshments were greatly appreciated by everyone and the two water stations on the course were also very much appreciated by everyone.
