Cllr Seanie Lonergan has been informed by the County Council that the Caution Children at Play signs for St Anne’s Tce have been purchased and will be erected by staff in the coming weeks. Following representations from residents last year, Cllr Lonergan submitted a Notice of Motion to the Council seeking the erection of these signs on safety grounds. The councillor wishes to thank residents for contacting him again recently to ensure the motion as agreed is implemented.
On a bright sunny Wednesday evening last, residents of St Finnan’s Ave and members of the community at large gathered for the celebration of Mass on the Terrace Green. We say thanks to Fr Bobby, Stefan, Michael, Ken, Theresa and Anthony for making this lovely occasion possible. A special word of gratitude to Nuala and her wonderful team for providing tea and sandwiches. The team worked hard all day to ensure everyone received a warm welcome. It was wonderful to see friends and neighbours gathering in such numbers. Hopefully, this Mass will become an annual event.

Notifications were sent out this week stating that there will be NO LIFEGUARD for the River Suir in Ardfinnan this year. It would make you wonder just how much will be saved by cutting back on the safety of our children and where the priorities of our Council and elected representatives lay. If you use the River for swimming please be careful and do not swim alone.

Senior: The seniors were defeated by Moyle Rovers in the South semi final by 4 points. The teams were level at 4 points each at half time and Ardfinnan looked to be in a good position. We dominated the midfield exchanges for long periods of the game but we just didn’t get any breaks around the goal on the night. The game finished 10 points to 6. We now play the same opposition in the first round of the County. This game was fixed for the coming weekend, however this is subject to change as the Tipp minors play on Monday next.
Junior: The Juniors have played one game to date ending in defeat to Newcastle. The next fixture is against Fethard this Friday night in Marlfield. We play St Pats on Monday, August 7, in Monroe at 7pm.
Minor: The minors played the South final on Friday night last in Ballylooby against Ballyporeen. The first half was competitive with Ardfinnan very much in the game. Ballyporeen got on top in the second half and ran out comfortable winners in the end. Ardfinnan had an excellent league and championship campaign and the club would like to thank the players and management for their efforts throughout the year.
Under 8: The Under 8 player of the week is Paddy Boyle.
The Lotto numbers for July 18 were 10, 12, 22 and 24. There was no winner and nobody matched 3 numbers. The lucky dip winners were Kathleen Marsh, Rita Hally and Jessica O’Mahoney. Next weeks jackpot is E2800.

The club would like to wish Oisin O’Flynn and the Tipp minors the best of luck in the All Ireland quarter final against Meath this weekend.
The club would like to extend its deepest sympathy to the O’Gorman family Ardfinnan on the passing of former player and Officer Ned O’Gorman.
Ardfinnan tidy towns once again would like to thank everyone for keeping up the great work being done around the village. We would also like to inform everyone that the committee has decided to not to do our individual garden awards this year after receiving feedback from residents that think it is a better plan to use the money spent on prizes on extra flower boxes and flower beds etc around estates and surrounding areas rather than individual houses.
