Knockmealdown Active would like to invite you to: “Demo & Dine” Cookery Demonstration & Tasting Evening on Wednesday, February 29, at 7.30pm in Cahir House Hotel. Hosted by Bord Failte Head Chef JJ Healy, the evening will consist of a series of cookery demonstrations by top local chefs, including Dermot Gannnon from The Old Convent, Clogheen, Eileen Condon Catering, Newcastle, Noel Coady, The Hermitage, Clogheen, Peter Greene, Cahir House Hotel. Each chef will prepare a number of courses, using locally-sourced ingredients, with tasting samples for everyone in the audience and recipes available to take home.

DUHILL DRAMATIC SOCIETY:

The society’s A.G.M took place on Friday, February 17, in Duhill Hall. The following officers were elected: Chairperson - Marie Fitzgearld, Secretary - Mary Murphy, Treasurer -J ohn O’ Gorman. We are also delighted to announce Mick Dunne of Mitchelstown will be joining us again for 2012 to direct our next production!

BRIAN BORUS FOOTBALL:

Training for u14s and u16s will take place in Ballylooby pitch on Sunday, February 26, at 11.30am.

CONGRATULATIONS: 

Congratulations to the Colaiste Dun Iascaigh girls who won the Junior B College Camogie All Ireland Semi Final in Clanna Gael Fontenoy, Dublin last Saturday. The girls played an Antrim school. Well done to all involved! Members from our parish were: Rebecca English, Caoimhe Condon, Maureen Murphy, Claire Walsh, Fiona Burke and Regina Cooney. We wish Rebecca English a speedy recovery from her injury!

PRAYER AND REFLECTION IN PREPARATION FOR EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS

An evening of prayer and reflection will be held in St. Oliver’s Church, Clonmel at 7.30pm on Tuesday, February 28, with Fr. Patrick M. Cahill (The Family of Mercy). Opening with celebration of Holy Mass. Concluding with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament

BALLYLOOBY/CASTLEGRACE JUVENILE GAA CARD DRIVE Card drive continues every Monday night in Ballylooby Hall at 8.30pm followed by light refreshments.

MEDAL PRESENTATION NIGHT This Saturday, February 25, in the Village Inn our winning minor and Junior teams will be presented with their medals from last year. We have music by Finbar and Marc along with finger food on the night. Everyone is welcome to come along and join the celebrations for what was a great year for the club last year. Events will start at 8.30 pm.

SCRAP METAL COLLECTION

The GAA club is trying to raise some funds through the method of collecting scrap metal from the parish. So if you have anything that you think would help the cause please contact Derek Coffey on 0868536681. We are looking for any old unwanted items that may be around the house, farmyard or even stuck in the ditch that you would like removed. We will do all the hard work all you have to do is call Derek and the Club will arrange the collection.

GAA CLUB MEMBERSHIP Club membership is now due and can be paid to club PRO Alan Kennedy. We have reduced our membership rates for the coming year in order to try to increase the number of members within the club. Fees are: Adult player €40; Player 21 to 16 €10; Adult non player €10; Family €30. All of these rates will increase after March 17. In order to give everyone a chance to pay their membership before March 17 we have decided to take memberships after all three parish masses on the weekend of March 3 and 4, in the local halls.
