The first ever competitive senior ladies soccer match in Cullen attracted a fine crowd to Aisling Park last Thursday night as the local team defeated O’Brien’s Bridge by four goals to nil. The honour of scoring the team’s first goal fell to Carol Leahy, who, having been brought down in the penalty area after twelve minutes, coolly converted the spot kick. The team led by that goal at half-time and went on to add three more after the break, with Carol Leahy getting her second. All the team performed well, with Marguerite Morrissey in midfield and goal scorer Michelle O’Mahony on the wing, always a threat. The team are in action again this Thursday night in Cullen, when Croom A will provide the opposition.

Fun Day:

Despite the cold biting easterly breeze, a good-sized attendance enjoyed the fun day at Aisling Park last Sunday. The club wish to thank everyone who supported the event by baking for the cake sale or donating prizes for the raffle. Thanks also to William Conway for placing an adjoining field at the club’s disposal for car parking.

Summer camp:

Any child wishing to attend the soccer summer camp in Cullen should fill out an application form and return it to a committee member as soon as possible. Each participant will receive a crested jersey, shorts, socks and shin guards The cost per child is €60 with reductions for subsequent family members.
