To launch Ireland’s biggest annual heartfelt appeal Happy Heart Weekend (10-12 May) sponsored by Lidl Ireland, young volunteers from Tipperary were first in line to buy a happy heart in aid of the Irish Heart Foundation in the Carrick-On-Suir store this week.
The volunteers were joined by Carrick-On-Suir Store Manager Niall Quinlan as they urged the people of Tipperary to make sure their hearts are in the right place to buy a happy heart for €2 this May.
The 23rd annual fundraising appeal run by the national heart and stroke charity is generously sponsored by Lidl Ireland. The Irish Heart Foundation, with help from customers and staff at Lidl Ireland, is on a mission to raise half a million euro to help stop 13 people dying suddenly EVERY DAY from heart attack and stroke in Ireland.
Together they aim to reach their target by selling as many happy heart badges as possible throughout Lidl stores from 7th Mayand from on-street collections between 10-12 May. Funds will go to provide FREE heart and stroke information and helpline support for patients and their families.
Proud sponsors Lidl Ireland are fully behind the Happy Heart Weekend campaign with staff ready to paint their local stores in Tipperary red with happy hearts. Aoife Clarke from Lidl Ireland said: “For the second year running we are delighted to sponsor this vital national appeal and we are proud of the generous contribution our staff and customers have made towards fighting heart disease and stroke. This year, happy hearts will be on sale again at every Lidl store and we’re urging the local community to come out and show their true colours by supporting the campaign.”
Irish Heart Foundation Regional Manager Anne Riordan says: “This Happy Heart Weekend we want to get everyone in Tipperary involved and help raise funds to provide vital services to heart and stroke patients. Every happy heart you buy in Lidl from 7th May could help save the life of someone you know in the future. So pop into your local Lidl store or catch up with the on-street volunteers to buy a heart and make sure your whole family is wearing theirs this May.”
