COMMUNITY ALERT

Woodenstown, Chamberlainstown, Whitelands, Newtown, Graigue, Loughkent Lower, Caddlestown, Springfield, and Ballinattin Community Alert Area. It is proposed to have the next meeting on Monday, July 23 (please note change of date) in New Inn Community Centre at 7.50pm. The purpose of this meeting will be discuss “getting to know your neighbour – family fun day” to be held later this year.

WOMEN’S GROUP

The Women’s Group are having an outing on Saturday, August 11, taking in Waterford Crystal, Inistiogh, Nicholas Mosse Pottery and Kilkenny castle. Anyone interested in going, please contact Mary Frances asap on 0527462252. More details next week.

The County Community games track and field finals took place recently in Templemore. Well done to the following who took part: Anna and Tom Downey, Ava Bourke Shanahan, Ava Carroll, Tomas O’Connor, Kevin Keating, Cathriona Rice, John Marnane, Karin Blair, McKayla O’Dwyer, Anika Maxwell, Davina Ryan, Evi Grogan, Bridget and Claire Ryan, Ciara Parker, Caoimhe Crosse, Roisin Doyle and especially to Shannon O’ Dwyer who won a silver medal in the girls’ u14 long puc and Rebecca Carroll who won bronze in the same event. Congratulations also to Sean O’Connell who won a silver medal in the boys u14 shot putt. Well done again to all! A big thank you to Mary Doyle who gives up a lot of her time to train and prepare the children for these games - go raibh mille maith agat!

U12 C - Well done to all the players who had a great game of hurling against Aherlow on Monday, June 25, in New Inn. From start to finish it was nail biting stuff with only 2 points separating the teams at the finish. Final score 2-4 to 1-5. All the players had a great game with Christopher Lonergan in goal, Grainne Moloney, Ciaran McKenna, Conor O’Brien, Karin Blair, Jake Fitzgerald in the backs, Fergus English (1-0) and Mark Ryan in midfield with Patrick Hickey(1-03), Eric Cyneriak, John Marnane (0-1), Michael Ryan and Ciara Parker in the forwards. Out injured: Kevin Ryan, we wish him a speedy recovery.

U12 E - Well done to this young team who had a good win over Sean Treacy’s in Kilcommon on Monday, June 25. Final score, 4 scores to 2. Well done to all the players especially scorers Adam Gallagher and Kevin Cleary.

U14B - Hard luck to the players who were beaten by a strong Cappawhite team last Thursday 5 July in New Inn.

County matters

Well done to Alan Moloney who played on the senior football team for Tipperary against Offaly on Saturday, June 30, in Semple Stadium. Tipp won 1-12 to 0-10 with Alan scoring 4 pts as corner forward. Also on the panel was Gavin Ryan. Also well done to T.J. Ryan who is on the Tipp Minor football team who defeated Kerry 2-14 to 1-14 last Sunday in Limerick in the Munster Minor Football Championship Final. Best wishes for the next round.
