A tawny owl, lizards, a tarantula and some snakes were among the little creatures that enthralled children at a Carrick-on-Suir playschool.
They were all part of the Animal Road Show that visited the Little Rascals Playgroup in Carrickbeg before the summer holiday break.
The children were very gentle, asked lots of questions and had no fear as they took turns to touch and hold the snakes, lizards, tortoise, rabbit, guinea pig, tawny owl and a tenrecs, which is related to the hedgehog.
They learned all about their habitats, the food they eat and their countries of origin.Staff and children were fascinated by the tarantula spider, Ruby and counted her legs in Irish.
And they were all amazed when Boo Boo, the tawny owl, flew across the room into his box.
