Labour MEP Phil Prendergast will launch the Lions Club’s “Message in a Bottle” national initiative in Ormond Castle at 6.30pm on Friday, September 28.
The Lions Club, through this project, is encouraging each household to keep a plastic bottle containing information relating to the people living in the house in the case of an emergency situation.
The information will be outlined on a supplied form and could include health details, emergency contacts, name of doctor, a photograph of the person and any other relevant information.
It might also help the Emergency Services to know if there are pets that need looking after.
At a minimum, it will save the Emergency Services valuable time identifying the person and their emergency contacts, any special medication or allergies which could be a potential life saver and provide peace of mind to users and their families and friends.
The “Message in a Bottle” campaign is one of a number of events Carrick-on-Suir Lions Club is organising in the town for its awareness week from this Saturday, September 22 to Friday, September 28. The awareness week was formally launched at Ormond Castle last Friday.
