Kilsheelan Kilcash

Well done to the Kilsheelan Kilcash Junior hurling team on winning the County Final. Don’t forget we are collecting all household, clothes, toys, books and unwanted gifts for the St Vincent de Paul for the month of November.

Tennis President’s Adult League - The finals will take place on Saturday next, December 1, at 7.30pm. Club President Attracta O’Reilly would like to see all League participants come along on Saturday evening and indeed all Club members would be most welcome. At the conclusion of the tennis presentation of prizes will take place and there will be refreshments for everybody.

Junior Coaching - The sessions under Tony McCarthy have now concluded and it was great to see over 40 juniors involved with such great enthusiasm. We encourage parents to urge those juniors to continue to play regularly and put into practice what they have learned.

Indoor facilities - A good uptake of late so all members are urged to become involved in their recreation of choice without delay.

Cards - With the festive season on the horizon our Christmas Hampers and Accumulator begins on this Wednesday, November 28, and continues on December 5, 12 and 19. Same partner with three out of four scores to count with presentation of prizes and party night on Wednesday, December 19. The game gets underway each Wednesday night at 8.30pm sharp.

Work is expected to commence within the next two weeks but there should be no disruption of Hall activities until the New Year. Any alterations will be well sign-posted in advance and every effort will be made to keep disruption to the minimum.

Now that the U21 hurlers campaign is over, the curtain has come down on the playing season in what was a very successful year for the Club. It was a memorable year with Bill’s success followed by the County honours achieved by the Junior hurling team. We thank everyone involved with the club, players, mentors, sponsors and our supporters for their loyalty throughout the year. A reminder to all that we have some Club gear available for sale - if you are interested please contact Michael Dempsey 0876188237. This could solve a Christmas gift problem for you.

County Tipperary Hurling Club will hold a banquet in Saturday, December 8, in New York where the guest of honour will be Jimmy Lyons, Grangemockler, the special guests will be Jim Kehoe and our very own Bill Maher as All Ireland Minor Captain will be there with the Irish Press Cup.

Despite the inclement weather last Sunday we had a great crowd of people at our annual Bring and Buy Sale. We want to say a sincere thank you to all of you for your generous and enthusiastic bidding which realised much needed funds for the Club. We thank all those who supplied items and the committee for their input on the day. Our next event is the Senior Citizen’s Party on December 9. If you have a problem with transport, just contact any committee member and will organise same for you.

The Saturday night in Ferryhouse could do with more teenagers taking part. The sports hall is available for indoor activities along with table tennis and of course the swimming pool. A very big thank you to Johnny who ensured all leaving the swimming pool last Saturday night had expended a lot of energy. Great fun with the ball activities in the pool and full marks to Johnny who gave excellent tips on how to improve everyone’s swimming and diving techniques. The Ferryhouse facility is open on Saturday evenings from 8pm to 9.30pm to all girls and boys in the age category of attending secondary school.
