The monthly meeting of Carrick-on-Suir Carers Support Group will take place at the Nano Nagle Community Resource Centre next Tuesday, December 11.

Names of support group members, who wish to attend the annual Mass for family carers in the Cork Carers Centre on Wednesday, December 19, will be taken at the meeting.

The Mass will be followed by a Christmas lunch.

A pharmacist from McCauleys will also speak at that meeting.

South Tipperary Carers Association Manager Richie Molloy attended the Carers Support Group’s November meeting.

He thanked Ann Marie Lynch for participating in the Carers Mini-Marathon in Clonmel and raising a significant amount in sponsorship.

Richie reported on the Carers Association’s Pre-Budget Submission. He said carers across the country are very fearful of what this budget will bring with further threats of cuts to household benefit packages, free travel for carers and services for young adults with disabilities on reaching the age of eighteen.

The submission titled “Building a Brighter Future for Ireland’s Carers” presented a range of “cost neutral” proposals to support family carers.

He also reported on the annual general meeting of the Carer’s Association in Dublin on November 17.
