Parents Council- Newcastle Parents Council would very much appreciate your support for the fundraising Valentines raffle. Lines for 1 euro are available in all the local shops with very attractive prizes including a child’s bike and helmet, large “goodie” hamper and a fruit hamper. The draw will take place on Wednesday 13 February and we are reminding children who have bought home raffle sheets to please return them by 8 February.

South Tipp Cycling Club- The committee of the South Tipperary Cycling club would like to let existing and potentially new members know that the starting point for Sunday cycles during the month of February will start from Newcastle. The meeting point will be at the Muintir na Tire community centre at the earlier time of 9.30am and not 10am as already announced and the dates are 17 and 24 February.

B.N.B Scheme- B.N.B Community Employment Scheme and Newcastle Tidy Towns would like to thank Joe Corbett, Croan and Michael Caplice Garden Centre in Skeheenarinky for the Christmas tree that adorned the village this Christmas. Recently the committee of B.N.B made a presentation of hand scripted scroll to Alice O ‘hea in recognition of her dedication and her eighteen years’ service to the Scheme. The scroll consisted of hand illuminated version of Amhran Na bhFiann. They now wish her many more active years of involvement in the community.

Newcastle Homecoming Festival- Preparations are well underway for the Newcastle Homecoming Festival which will take place from Friday June 21 to Thursday June 27. Some events taking place include the school reunion on Friday 21 and the GAA day which will take place on Sunday 23. We are again appealing to anyone with family or relatives living abroad to contact Marian O’Dwyer on 087-1254882 or Donal O’Loughlin on 087-9870467 with their names, addresses and email addresses. The next meeting will take place on Tuesday February 12 at 8pm in the GAA Centre.

GAA Notes- Membership of the club is now due for renewal. The prices for 2013 are as follows; adults €30 up to March 31, OAP’s, students and Under 16’s all €10 for the coming year. 
The adjourned AGM of the club will be held in the club rooms on Friday, February 8, at 8pm. All are welcome to attend.
Newcastle GAA club would like to sympathise with club chairman, Michael Keating, and the Keating family, Rathogally, Newcastle on the death of Mary during the past week. Mary lived in Kilmanagh, Co Kilkenny and sympathy is also expressed to Mary’s husband, Seán, and two children. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.
Pioneer notes- The local Pioneer centre would like to thank all those who gave so generously to their church gate collection last weekend. Your generosity is very much appreciated.

Fundraising Card Drive- A 45 card drive in aid of baby Millie Lonergan Fund has been arranged for Saturday 16 February in the community hall. Full details at a later date.

Naionra- If you have any old Christmas cards for arts and crafts the Naionra would love to have them. We are also in need of any toys, books or jigsaws anything suitable for a child from 6 months to 12 years. We are also collecting old mobile phones. Please keep us in mind anytime your children have outgrown their toys.
