Carrick Swan’s minor players began their year with an Xbox/Playstation competition in the clubhouse.
After approximately three hours of gaming, Lee Wall (Arsenal) walked away as champion after defeating Eric O’Halloran (Barcelona) in the final. Lee wins a €30 voucher to spend in the Swan Club shop and also a funny GAA t-shirt from Monaghan based company www.laughingpig.ie.
Congratulations to Lee on a well deserved victory.
The Club begins its 2013 playing season next Saturday in Monroe where the U-21 football team takes on the Ballylooby/Fr Sheehy’s combination team at 2.30pm.
Other teams in the group are Ballingary and the amalgamated Grangemockler/Carrick Davins team. The Club wishes all the panel, their mentors and coaches the best of luck in this competition.
The underage boys and girls resume indoor training next week in the Swan Club Juvenile Hall. Indoor training times are Monday: U-12s girls, from 6pm to 7pm: U-14 and U-16 girls 7pm to 8pm; Tuesday: U-6 and U-8 girls from 6pm to 7pm, U-8 boys from 7pm to
8pm; Wednesday: U-6 boys from 6pm to 7pm.
Other training times will be added in due course and an up to date indoor training schedule is available on the Swan Club website.
U-10 player Michael O’Donovan, one of the Club’s future stars is recovering at home after a short stay in hospital recently. The Club wishes
him a speedy recovery and looks forward to seeing him back playing on The Green in the near future.
A juvenile disco for boys and girls aged between 9 and 13 years of age will take place this Friday, February 8 from 8pm to 10pm. Parents and those attending are reminded the disco now finishes at 10pm.
All are welcome to attend and admission costs €5.
Over the coming weeks and months, Carrick Swan members will be supporting the Today FM Shave or Dye Campaign and the Club is seeking volunteers. Please contact the Club through email or via any committee member if you are willing to shave or dye your hair for a great cause. The Carrick Swan Shave or Dye event takes place in April and all money raised goes to the Irish Cancer Society. You can make
a donation to the participant of your choice through the Swan website.
The Club’s new range of O’ Neill’s branded club merchandise can now be viewed on the website and is available to purchase.
Club Registrar Willie Hahessy will be at the Carrick Swan Clubhouse this Friday at 7pm to collect registrations. Registration can also be paid to any committee member. The Club and team managements would appreciate if all players would pay their subscriptions prior to the March 31 deadline as only those players, who have paid membership subscriptions are insured and can play games. Membership fees for 2013 are as follows: non-playing adult €20, adult player €40, non-playing minor €10, minor player €20, juvenile €10.
Numbers drawn in last week’s Juvenile Lotto draw were 5, 9, 17, 23. The €4,750 jackpot prize wasn’t won and no fewer than 16 players matched three numbers to win €20 each. There was also 5 lucky dip winners, who won €20 each.
Carrick Swan GAA Club thanks all those, who continue to play the lotto and reminds those who might like to join that weekly entry is €2 and this
can be paid to any committee member, or to any of the lotto promoters, who will call to players to collect the fee each week. This week’s jackpot prize is €5,000. The public’s continued support for this draw helps the Club provide for all its juvenile players and is very much appreciated,
