Summer holidays are approaching and Cashel Library has launched the summer reading challenge for children. In recent years this programme has been popular and encouraged reading even when school is out!
Staff have put together two challenges: “Treasure Island Reading Challenge” for children up to nine years and “Passport to the World” for children aged 10 to 12. Children must read six books throughout the summer, younger children will map their reading on a treasure map and put a gold coin into the treasure chest for each book, older children will be asked to read books by authors from different countries, set in or about different countries. Thanks to the Local Training Initiative at Spafield Family Resource Centre who volunteered time and talents for our pirate island wall.
