Tidy Towns

With the national Tidy Town’s results due out in the next week or so we would like to point out how difficult it is to gain an extra point or two from the judges on the previous year’s results, even to maintain last years marks is an achievement in itself. The answer of course is hard work, dedication and cooperation. This year has been no exception to that, the committee and volunteers have worked endlessly in the passed few months and one has only to look around our beautiful village and admire the work they have put in.

The committee are delighted and thankful to the residents of all the estates and areas in the village for coming out in force to lend a helping hand. In the future if you feel your area could be improved or enhanced in any way please give the committee a shout. They may not be in a position to manually help everyone but they will be available to advise you on the various things you may and may not do in a particular area. If they can’t answer you questions there and then they will find out for you. This year we saw quite a number of the younger generation get involved and helped in anyway they could and for this we are most appreciative.

As an example as to what can be done in an area we would like to thank most sincerely Pat and Leanne Kelly, Mary Condon, Jennifer Shine and Connor and Niell Gallagher who transformed what was nothing but a dump into what is now better known as the “not so secret garden”.

At this stage the results are only around the corner and up or down we would like to thank everyone for their help and cooperation in getting ready for this years competition and we look forward to doing it all over again next year. We would also like to thank everyone who donated money and paint etc. A special thanks to the Cowan brothers for that beautiful mural that seems to have appeared overnight on the end wall of the Community Centre.
