Concerned with the number of burglaries that have taken place in houses in Clonmel and surrounding areas in the last few months, Cllr Richie Molloy has organised a coffee morning in the Cluain restaurant in Nelson Street this morning, Wednesday, 4th September at 10.30am, where a member of the Gardai will give a talk on how best to prevent your house from being burgled.
Cllr. Molloy says he spoke to one of the victims of a recent robbery and her whole life has now changed because of the incident.
She no longer attends social events and is even afraid to go out to Mass, such is the fear she has that her house is being watched.
He has called for tougher prison sentences for those found guilty of house burglaries, because in some cases he says the thieves ruin the victim’s piece of mind, as well as causing a lot of financial hardship. Cllr. Molloy reminds people to fit a door viewer and a door chain and have an alarm fitted if possible. He also says people should never allow strangers into their home.
Remember - Coffee Morning this morning (Wednesday) at 10.30 in the Cluain restaurant , Nelson Street.
