Events planned to support Clonmel Mayor’s Fund

The Mayor’s Fund, which helps the less well-off in Clonmel and the surrounding area at Christmas time, has been in existence for over 90 years.

The Mayor’s Fund, which helps the less well-off in Clonmel and the surrounding area at Christmas time, has been in existence for over 90 years.

In that time it has supported thousands of needy families and helped them enjoy treats at Christmas that otherwise they wouldn’t be able to afford.

This year the Mayor, Cllr. Pat English, has organised a number of fundraising events that he hopes will be well supported.

The first of these is a table quiz at Liam Daly’s in O’Connell Street on Friday night, November 22.

Tables of four cost €20 and a great night is guaranteed, while supporting a worthy cause.

The quiz gets underway at 9pm.

The Mayor’s Fund Walk, a novel fundraiser that began last year, will be held on Sunday, December 1.

The walk will leave St. Mary’s Church, Irishtown at 1pm (after the 12 noon Mass) for Marlfield village before returning to town.

Sponsorship cards are now in circulation. Any support, however small, would be greatly appreciated.

Finally, a free gig by the Tipperary Ramblers, with ceol agus craic, will be held at Liam Daly’s in O’Connell Street at 9pm on Saturday night, December 14.
