Together with a collection in St. Paul’s Church that morning a total of €168.62 is now being sent to the Irish Poppy Appeal. Members of Cahir Historical Society were present as were some descendants of those named on the memorial. Johnny O’Brien, a Second World War soldier, has been gardener for the memorial for over 20 years, and a small group will continue this work on a rotation basis.
