There is a great buzz in the club in advance of the Tipperary minor footballers match in Croke Park next Sunday. Adding to the occasion is the involvement of club members, David Power as manager, Bill Maher who will be lining out while Adrian McGuire and Conor Davin Murphy are also on the panel. It is great to see so many travelling to Headquarters for the game. We are proud of these young players and their manager. We wish them every success and hope they enjoy this unique experience.

Our Junior Football team will be in action this Wednesday (17th) in Cahir against Ballyporeen. A win will get them through to the Semi Finals.

How would you like to Guess The Score in the All Ireland Hurling Final and have the chance to win €E300? The Club is running a competition with this prize on offer. It will just cost €E2 to enter. All players and committee members will have cards and hopefully you will support the cause as all funds raised will go to the Club Development Fund.

Congratulations to Anne Robinson who was the latest winner of the golden goal. Last week’s goal was scored in the 3rd minute and next week the competition will be based on Kerry V Mayo match.

In the U/16”B” hurling championship Kilsheelan travelled to Mullinahone to take on the home side. Kilsheelan quickly put two points on the board. This was followed by a goal, from an acute angle, by Aaron Larkin. The physically stronger Mullinahone side came more and more into the game and this paid off with a goal. Kilsheelan hit back. Paul Maher’s ’65 was deflected to the net by John Smyth and at half time Mullinahone led by 2-4 to 2-3. Kilsheelan regained the lead after the interval with a couple of points. Mullinahone hit back again with a goal. Kilsheelan were awarded a free about twenty five metres out. Kevin Kirwan went for goal and was successful. Both sides went on to exchange points. The game looked to be going Mullinahone’s way when they had a goal to put them four points ahead. In the closing stages both sides stepped up the ante. Paul Maher’s determined run through the Mullinahone’s defence produced the best goal of the match but it was Mullinahone who went on to win by 4-10 to 4-8.

On Sunday, September 11, we are holding our first ever Harvest Fare. Initially we intended it to be just veggies but there has been an interest in extending it to home produce, flowers and for the children a photographic competition and arts and crafts. Hopefully your vegetables are now progressing well and you will have the opportunity to bring them along and let’s see the fruits of your labour. During the holidays I hope the children are taking some nice pictures for the photo display.
