Ballylooby/Castlegrace 2-15 Cahir 0-5
This game was played in Ardfinnan on Tuesday evening. From the outset, Ballylooby/Castlegrace were dominant and when Ronan O’Dwyer broke threw from the throw in even though he shot wide it set the tone for the game. David Fox opened the score with a fine long range point and followed with two more from frees before the half ti me whistle. Martin Burke operating at full forward was the target man and with quick ball going into him he added four points in the first half, Colm Flynn also contributed to the tally with two well taken long range points. Cahir only managed to raise the white flag twice the first thirty minutes to leave the half time score 0-9 to 0-2. Goals early in the second half from John Whelan and Martin Burke finished of the game as a contest. The strength and depth of the football squad was evident when subs of the calibre of Brian Beary, Jamie Coffey who contributed a fine point on his introduction, Paul Darcy and Brian Reidy all slotted in with interrupting the flow of the game. IRISH HEART FOUNDATION
The recent Church Gate collection at both Ballylooby and Duhill in aid of the Irish Heart Foundation raised E879.40. Sincere thanks to everybody who supported this collection, it is much appreciated.
PARISH VINTAGE DAY
It is just over a week to the Parish Vintage Day, and all roads will lead to Ballylooby on Sunday 28 August. A great fun family day out, the threshing mill, steam engine, vintage tractors, cars and bikes, dog show butter making, sports bouncing castles and numerous side shows. Fun filled day for all the family to enjoy so take note of the date and come along to support this annual parish event.
An exhibition of paintings, by young artists from: August 26 to September 30. Venue: Duneske, Cahir. They will sell their paintings in aid of Cancer Support Centre.
Draiocht, the Show continues on this Thursday at St. Paul’s Clogheen at 8.15pm. The show will resume normal times on Thursday and Friday 25 and 26 of August. Good luck to the members of the group who are participating in the All Ireland Fleadh Ceol next week-end.
DUHILL GALA DAY
Duhill Gala Day will be held on Sunday, September 11. Events include, cake sale, photography competition (two pictures of your choice per participant by Thursday, September 8.) 10k Fun Cycle (Fancy Dress optional) and much more. Next meeting re organisation will be on Wednesday August 24 at 8pm.
