Drangan & Cloneen Active Retirement

The annual outing of the club will take place on August 30 to September 1 with an outing to Killarney, staying at The Gleneagle Hotel. The balance of the cost of €155 was to be paid by Friday, August 12.

For those requiring a single room there is a charge of €20 per night extra.

The train to Killarney is scheduled for 10:21 a.m. from Thurles Station, arriving in Killarney at 12:22.

For those who require it, a bus will be provided to take those travelling to Thurles.

This bus will pick up those travelling in Cloneen at 9am and in Drangan at 9:15am

A special Whist Drive in aid of Fr. Paul Horan’s Mission in Zimbabwe will be held in The Community Hall, Drangan this Monday night 22nd August at 8.45. It is hoped for a good attendance. Fr. Paul returns to Zimbabwe in September.

On Thursday evening last in Anner Park, Cloneen our under 16 Hurlers defeated Ballylooby-Castlegrace by 4-14 to 5-9. The team was: Cillan Mockler, John Paul Fitzgerald, Ivan Brett, Conor Cuddihy, Conor Cloney, Darragh Wilson, Aidan Buckley, Mark Mullally, Cathal Mahony, Cathal Meagher, James Buckley, Jack Hennessy, Brian Kerry, Conor Gorey, Tony Smith, Darren Boland.

On this Thursday evening August 18 our Under 16 Hurlers play Ballyneale at 7.00pm in Grangemockler. On Thursday 1st September the action moves back to Anner Park, Cloneen for an Under 16 Hurling game against Kilsheelan - Kilcash at 7.00pm.

On this Monday evening 22nd August our Under 14 Hurlers play Killenaule in the South Tipperary Semi-Final.

Also on Monday 22nd August our Minor Hurlers play Cahir in Ned Hall Park, Clonmel.

On Thursday evening last our Junior B Hurlers were defeated by St. Marys on a score of 1-13 to 1-10. The Team was Declan Ryan, William O’Brien, Keith Browne, Kieran Clancy, Thomas Hayes, Anthony Barry, Daniel O’Roirdan, Eamon Needham, Robert Meagher, Brendan Gleeson, Tom O’Conor, Mark Slattery, Noel Brett, Keelan O’Neill, Stuart Broderick, Philip Britton, Mark Fitzgerald, Aidan Maher.

On Saturday evening last our Junior Footballers were defeated by Ardfinnan on a score of 3-10 to 0-7. The Team was: Ian O’Connor, Kieran Clancy, Colm Dunne, Darren Meagher, Conor Barry, Keith Browne, Shane Gerey, Liam Brett, Paul Horan, Mark Slattery, Patrick Moroney, John Moroney, Brendan Kearney.

With another Tipperary - Kilkenny All-Ireland Final coming up, we expect a serious demand for tickets. Members who require tickets should book them with Club Secretary Catherine Mockler and non members are advised to get them from any source possible as there is no guarantee that the Club will get enough for all applicants.
