THREE YEARS IN BUSINESS

Congratulations to John And Emer Murphy, Graigue Pub, Clogheen, who celebrate three years in business this Sunday, March 18. John And Emer would like you to join them for music, song and dance on Sunday evening. All are welcome.

TERESA MURPHY RIP

The death occurred last week of Teresa Murphy (nee Lenihan), Main Street, Clogheen, a native of Mitchelstown. Teresa passed away after a long illness bravely borne with great courage and dignity. Teresa was a great lady, top class in her business as a hairdresser in her early years in Clogheen and ran a very popular public house with her husband Ned where long tailed stories are still recalled from the golden days in the Dew Drop Inn Clogheen.

She will be sorely missed by her hearthbroken family, son Eamonn, daughters Marie, Paula and Noelle, sons in law Jer Flynn and Thomas Ahearn, her grandchildren, sister Claire O’Brien (Cahir) and all her extended family. Removal took place from Nedeens Bar to St Marys Church, Clogheen, on Friday last for requiem mass, followed by interment in Shanrahan Cemetery. May she rest in peace.

CLOGHEEN DRAMA GROUP

Friday and Saturday nights, March 30 and 31, at 8.15 p.m. will see the staging of the group’s second production, Big Maggie written by John B. Keane, at St Paul’s Hall, Clogheen. TRACTOR RUN

The Ardfinnan, Ballybacon, grange hospice committee’s annual fundraising tractor run will take place on Sunday, May 20.

SEPTIC TANK REGULATIONS

Deputy Mattie McGrath will hold a public meeting in relation to the Septic Tank Regulations Consultation Process in the Community Centre, New Inn on Thursday, March 15, at 8.30pm.

BENEFIT TRAINING PROGRAMME

Muintir na Tire through the Celtic Community Link in association with FIT are delivering a digitally inclusive project in South Tipperary. The programme is for anyone over 55, the unemployed and/or disadvantaged and is free. Training will take place in the IT Centre, Newcastle. For more information contact Mandy at 0871846393.

DAFFODIL DAY

Daffodil Day is March 23. From March 6 you will be able to purchase gifts from the usual outlets in Clogheen and surrounding areas. We will have fresh daffodils on the day. If you would like to donate flowers please contact Betty 086 8278785.

VEE ROVERS FC

Juniors were away to Redmonstown on Sunday where the points were vital to both sides in their attempts to fight relegation. The home side ran out worthy winners. Next weekend’s away game at Dundrum is a shoot-out to see which of the two teams remain in the division.

Under 12s enjoyed their recent trip to the Ireland v Czech Republic at the Aviva Stadium.

FR SHEEHY’S JUVENILE GAA

Under 8. Fr. Sheehy’s u8 football team took part in a blitz in Ballylooby recently with teams from Newcastle and Ballylooby/Castlegrace. Under 10. The first football blitz for u10s takes place on Saturday, March 31, in Clogheen.

Under 16. After a midweek win over Rockwell Rovers 3-2 to 1-3 Fr. Sheehy’s travelled with an under strength side to

Monroe to take on Moyle Rovers B last Saturday in the opening game in the South u16c football championship. A hugely committed performance saw the gallant twelve a head at the final whistle by 1-7 to 1-3 for the home team. Next game at home to Davins on Saturday, March 24.

BRIAN BORUS FOOTBALL

U16 Championship is underway at the moment and we’re due to play Fethard this weekend. Our 16s played a good sporting challenge last Sunday, March 4, against Clonmel Comercials. u8/10 training in Clogheen Club House 6:15pm to 7pm, on Wednesdays.

Well done to Caoimhe Condon and Laura Morrissey who lined out in the blue and gold in the second round of the u14 Munster Championship on Saturday.

BRIAN BORUS CAMOGIE

Brian Borus Camogie:

Indoor training has started in Clogheen on Thursday Evenings in the GAA club house.

On Thursday the u12s and u14s will be fitted for their camogie skorts. It is important all u12 and u14 girls attend this fitting as skorts will be ordered after. Skorts are compulsory for championship games.
